Electronic Prescription Services
The NHS is introducing the Electronic Prescription Service.
This could make collecting prescriptions easier & more convenient for you.
This service gives you the option to 'nominate' the chemist you choose to get your medication from so that they can receive your prescription electronically.
This could save you a trip to your GP practice just to collect your prescription.
See your local chemist for details or visit HSCIC
The Administration Department deals with over 600 repeat requests each week. This figure increases dramatically before holiday periods. To avoid possible unnecessary delays in receiving your repeat medication please plan ahead before ordering.
PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT ACCEPT ANY MEDICATION REQUEST OVER THE PHONE.
Help Us To Help You
- please allow 2 working days for a prescripition turnover
- please only tick the medication which you require in order to avoid wastage
- if you require an additional supply due to holidays please let a member of our staff know
- Acute medication should only be used for a short period of time, should you require additional medication please complete an acute medication require form available at reception and ensure all aspects of the form are completed.
Ordering your prescription
1. Online Services
Order repeat medication online.
You will need a password which can be obtained from reception.
Please bring a form of identification eg:- Passport or Driving Licence
2. Third Party Ordering
In Leicester City we are moving away from “third-party ordering” (Community Pharmacists ordering on behalf of patients). This means that most patients would have to order their repeat prescriptions directly through their GP practice, and not their high street or internet pharmacy or appliance contractor.
Ending “third-party ordering” will help to ensure that excess medicines are not being ordered. This brings the city into line with the rest of Leicestershire and Rutland, where a similar change has previously been made.
From 31st March 2020 your pharmacy will no longer be able to order your medication for you. We would therefore advise all patients where possible to either register for the NHS App @ www.nhs.uk/nhsapp or online services as above. Otherwise you will need to either post or bring in your request to the surgery
